ジュークオーナーに対して「誠意」を示す日産

アメリカのConsumersearchによると、日産がアメリカの一部ジューク・オーナーに
お詫びの手紙を送付しているそうです。パッと思いつくのは、リコールの類でしょう。
でも、違うんです。
ジュークにはFFと4WDモデルがあるんですが、燃料タンクの容量が・・・、
カタログ記載値と異なるんですって（笑）。設計上の燃料タンク容量は、
FFモデルが13.2ガロン（60.0072l）、4WDモデルは11.8ガロン（53.6428l）だそうです。
っで、アメリカで販売を開始した昨年末からしばらくの間、カタログや販売資料などで
両モデルの燃料タンクは13.2ガロンと記載されていたそうです。間違いに気づいた
日産側はすぐに修正をしたものの、約4000名のオーナーに手紙を送り、お詫び。

「車選びにおいて燃料タンクは重要事項ではないと思います。しかし日産としては
この問題を誠に遺憾に捉え、皆様方の満足度がいかに我々にとって重要か気持ちで
お示ししたく思っております。つきましては同封致しました＄400小切手をご査収くださいませ」
ボクが日産社員だったら、ディーラーで使える＄400分のクーポンにしますけどねぇ（笑）。
ところで、こういう場合、＄400の支払いは誰の会計なんでしょうね？
カタログ制作を請け負った広告代理店なのか、実作業をした制作会社なのか、
発注した日産なのか・・・。気になります。

According to consumersearch, Nissan has been sending out apology letters, enclosed
with $400 cheques, to approximately 4,000 Juke owners.
The Nissan Juke is offered in two different drivetrain flavors: front-wheel drive or
all-wheel drive. When marketing the Juke early on, Nissan listed the gas tank capacity
at 13.2-gallons. That’s true for the front-wheel-drive model, however, the all-wheel-drive
Juke has a smaller 11.6-gallon tank.
Nissan caught the error and corrected it, but not before approximately 4,000 Juke
owners purchased the all-wheel-drive Juke and assumed they had the larger tank.
Nissan puts its money where its mouth is and encloses a check for $400.
As the letter states:
“While fuel tank capacity may not have been a factor in your purchase decision,
Nissan sincerely regrets this error and would like to demonstrate how important your
satisfaction is to us. Please find enclosed a check in the amount of $400.00 as our
apology to you. Please note that the check is valid for 90 days; we hope that this action
will reinforce your faith in our product and address any concern you may have had.”
If I was in charge of this actions, I’d send out $400 worth of coupon which can be
used at Authorized Nissan dealers so that Juke owners spend that money
on their cars…
